This test article replicates a portion of the telescope backplane structure. It will be used to demonstrate structural stability under flight-like cryogenic temperature conditions.

September 2006: the Telescope Backplane Stability Test Article (BSTA) has been assembled. It is currently undergoing cryogenic testing at the Marshall Space Flight Center to measure its stability. The upper picture shows the BSTA Structure. The lower image shows the first interferometric fringe Of test article.
