MEET MIKE DAVIS: WEBB TELESCOPE DEPUTY MISSION SYSTEMS ENGINEER AND OBSERVATORY SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Mike Davis

Mike Davis has worked on the Webb Telescope program since joining Ball Aerospace in early 2003 and currently serves as the Deputy Mission Systems Engineer and Observatory Systems Engineer. In his role on Webb, Mike supports all system engineering efforts which include requirements formulation and management, systems design and integration, and systems validation and verification.

Prior to his involvement on Webb, Mike was an employee of Lockheed Martin for 21 years, 17 of which were spent in Sunnyvale, California working the AXAF/Chandra program. There he was responsible for Science Instrument interface definition, NPOESS studies where he was the responsible engineer for the microwave sensor system suite, and the DMSP Program where he was responsible for the Space Segment Integration effort. Moving to Maryland in 1999, Mike served as Verification Lead and Systems Engineer for the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera 3 Science Instrument and provided on-console support at NASA JSC for HST Servicing Mission 3B.

Mike received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Villanova University in 1982. Mike is an avid astronomer and loves to read. When he's not involved in Webb, Mike can be found at home in Crofton Maryland with his wife and two children.
